Stanley Middle School had a standout 2024-2025 school year! Our overall performance score rose by 9 points, and our Blue Devils achieved the largest increase in proficiency among all Gaston County middle schools, improving by 4.9 points. We’re proud of our students’ hard work and growth!

Stanley Middle School is home to the STEAM Academy, where Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math are part of daily learning. Our program offers students engaging, hands-on learning experiences that help them build important skills and prepare for future success.

Thanks to our partnership with Kintegra Health, we offer a telehealth clinic here at our school. Students, who are experiencing a minor illness or condition, can be seen by a medical provider virtually. This allows us to provide care for students without them having to leave school to go to the doctor.

Board of Education Meeting

The Board of Education will meet on Monday, December 15, at 5:30 p.m. at the Gaston County Schools Central Office, 943 Osceola Street, Gastonia. The public is invited to attend. 

Holiday Break Information

The holiday break begins on Monday, December 22. Students return to class on Tuesday, January 6. The Gaston County Schools central office will be closed December 23-25, and January 1. We would like to wish you and your family a joyous holiday season and a Happy New Year.

Gaston Regional Science and Engineering Fair 2025-2026

The Gaston Regional Science and Engineering Fair is coming up for students in grades 3-12. The elementary division will be held December 4-5 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., with awards beginning at 11 a.m. The high school division is set for January 8-9 from 9 a.m. to noon, with awards beginning at 11:30 a.m. Both events will take place at the Belmont Parks and Recreation Department at 1315 East Catawba Street in Belmont. This annual fair gives students the chance to showcase their projects, explore new ideas, and celebrate the importance of science, technology, engineering and math.

STEAM Academy

At the STEAM Academy, we’re proud to offer students a well-rounded and engaging learning experience, along with the opportunity to earn high school credit.

Clubs and Activities

We have many ways for our students to get involved through clubs such as Envirothon, robotics, yearbook, Beta Club, Battle of the Books and Math Elite.

Fine Arts

Our band and chorus students perform at community events and take part in competitions each year, while our visual arts students showcase their talents in local art competitions.

Athletics

We excel in athletics, winning the county baseball championship and competing for the county football title. Our girls track and field team placed first in their division, with other teams consistently near the top.
